Thanks doe, love the hard porn! It brings back fond memories of my trip west and the tour of Hoover Dam... tho the water level wasn't quite as low then! I hope to have my own Falling Water pics (Kentuck Knob too) in mid-June too!

Wondering if the top shot is a Frank Lloyd Wright architecture? For a minute I thought you mislabeled this as "Bridge Porn"Looked more like Dam Porn to me...

It's amazing how much attention the Falling Water attracts, and even more amazing that the building was constructed pre WWII. It would not look oit of place in an architecture competitio n today. I did recognise the Colorado Bridge, its construction still fascinates me. I am a sad git when it comes to this shit!! And a wee poem too!!

Did you mean 1080 feet below high water mark?? Wow! That's a drought!?! I'll need to find out where that bridge collapse was, shoogle will hopefully help me. Fortunately, that scale of bridge today would be designed with enough redundancy to ensure that any sort of impact did not cause a collapse disprpoportionate to the element of strucural failure. Fascinating stuff for geeks and sad gits!!

Great rant McDoe!! You are definitely back to your grumpy best here!! Poor maintenance, poor prioritisation, too many fucking politics, short-sighted gains. I think I said before, greed is the root of many a poor decision. Design practice has moved on considerably in recent times, unfortunately politics have regressed, become ever more primitive, inhuman, and will lead to the demise of the current monetarist cukture in the not too distant future, unless some sort of technological breakthrough like affordable faster than light travel comes forward.
